One Man Gone is the Bay Area Peninsula's premiere Grateful Dead tribute band.
OMG plays Dead music with heart and energy, pulling primarily from '70-'87. They have a thundering two-guitar, two-drummer sound that celebrates the Dead as the ultimate bar band, but also pushing the progressive, disco, and improvisational aspects of the music. It's a fun show!
Typically the band plays two energetic sets. Akin to a classic Dead show, the first set is generally country tinged rock, with a bit of jamming thrown in. For the second set, they focus on more danceable, extended jams that bring the audience on a wild musical journey.
The regular One Man Gone lineup consists of Travis Huch on guitar and lead vocals, Mark Perlson on guitar and vocals, Alex Bird on bass, and the dual drums of Mark Heller and Bill Gunn. OMG have had many guests and side members over the years, with ages ranging from 12 to 72.
The band really took off in the heart of the 2020 pandemic - when they found themselves unable to socially distance in the garage they had been practicing at. To solve that problem, they started playing outside at Palo Alto's beautiful Mitchell Park bowl. It allowed for fresh air and plenty of social distancing. Not only were they the best band, but they were the only band back then, and people started to come enjoy the weekend music. Those shows at the park turned into a regular thing, with the band having played dozens of shows there in the years since. They have been able to keep that fun, open atmosphere moving into bars and other venues as their popularity and set list grows.
